HomeFirst is a leading provider of services, shelter, and housing opportunities to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Santa Clara County. This position will support the operation of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.




  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. Primary functions may include:
    • Preparing and collecting expense documentation
    • Managing expense reports
    • Completing office supply orders
    • Chart organization
    • Archiving
    • Assisting with scheduling
    • Tracking program enrollments via Excel
    • Supporting special events, i.e. collecting donations
    • May assist with completing phone screens and collect applicant paperwork
    • May assist with filing, copying, shredding and other clerical functions
  • Assist with other duties assigned



Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in office or program administration preferred



Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain priorities and meet established deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Desire to work with people of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Sensitive to the needs of the homeless
  • Understanding of and strong adherence to social work ethics





  • Able to Stand/sit for extended periods, kneel, reach and bend related to the completion of duties;
  • Able to perform sedentary work;
  • Ability to use keyboard and read computer screens for extended periods
  • Able to lift and carry 35 lbs.
