PROGRAM/LOCATION:                     Administrative Office/Milpitas, CA

SUPERVISOR:                                General Accounting Manager/CFO

STATUS:                                         Full-time, Non-exempt

 

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

HomeFirst is a leading provider of services, shelter, and housing opportunities to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Santa Clara County. The Administrative Office houses instrumental support personnel of the agency, including the following departments: Finance/Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Funds Development.

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be the primary processor of Accounts Payable invoices and assist with monthly closing, audits, and general accounting tasks.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review all invoices to ensure correct approval and coding prior to posting and payment of invoices
  • Process checks and prepare for deposit
  • Process check requests and vendor invoices
  • 1099/W-9 record maintenance
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
  • Input and maintain accounts payable records
  • Generate accounts payable reports; review and analyze payment schedule
  • Maintain accurate filing system for accounts payable records 
  • Assist with Month-End Closing procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting (or related field) AND 3-5 years of experience in AP, OR equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience performing full cycle accounts payable

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Strong computer system skills; proficiency in Excel, word processing, and computerized accounting systems (e.g.: ADP, MIP, Blackbaud, MAS200, Peachtree)
  • Familiarity with GAAP
  • Mathematical aptitude, strong attention to detail, accuracy

     ·   Strong work ethic, well-organized, motivated

     ·  Strong problem-solving skills, data analysis, and documentation

     ·  Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain priorities and meet established deadlines

     ·  Ability to work with people of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds

Other

  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods, kneel, reach and bend related to completion of duties
  • Ability to perform sedentary work
  • Ability to use a keyboard, read computer screens
  • Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs.
